Haughton, Plain Dealing pick up sub-varsity victories


The Haughton Bucs and Plain Dealing Lions picked up sub-varsity football victories Monday evening.

Haughton defeated Northwood 40-22 in a freshman game. Plain Dealing downed Logansport 14-12 in a junior varsity game.

Jalob Walker and Lavonta Gibson scored two rushing touchdowns in Haughton’s victory. Cameron Townson threw two TD passes to Malcolm Hall.

DJ Monroe Sa’Darrius Hamilton both had interceptions. Terrence Sweeney had six tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Thomas Gay threw a pair of touchdown passes to Derreon Washington in Plain Dealing’s victory. Alex Dupree caught a big two-point conversion pass.

Ryan Penwell, who recovered a fumble, and Jarvis Harris led the defense. Gay contributed on defense with an interception.

Coach Coy Brotherton said Matt Sullivan had a good game at linebacker.
