Haughton residents spread Christmas cheer last week

Residents of Haughton and the area showed their generosity last week by donating to Operation Santa Claus many different toys and gifts, including a truck load of bikes, SUV full of unwrapped toys, as well as $2,000 in monetary donations.

Operation Santa Claus, the annual toy drive coordinated by the Bossier Sheriff’s Office, Shreveport Police and Fire Departments, and Townsquare Media, held a radio remote toy drive Thursday morning in the parking lot of Brookshire’s Grocery store in Haughton.

Law enforcement officers, firefighters and radio personalities worked from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. collecting toys, bikes and monetary donations from residents who stopped by with their gifts.

Folks can also drop off unwrapped gifts at any Citizens National Bank or at Townsquare Media, located at 6341 Westport Ave. in Shreveport, or at the Bossier Sheriff’s Office Viking Drive Substation at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City.  You can also mail donations to “Operation Santa Claus,” 6341 Westport Ave., Shreveport, LA 71129, or call OSC at 773-GIFT (4438).

On Dec. 14, firefighters, law enforcement officers, radio personalities and Santa Claus will visit with patients at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Shreveport for the “Barney Cannon Smile Run.”

On Dec. 20 – 21, first responders will deliver Christmas presents to hundreds of children throughout the ARK-LA-TEX to ensure no child goes without gifts this Christmas.
