A Haughton woman has been arrested for multiple physical abuse charges on her own mother, as well as various drug charges.
Belinda Roberts, 43, of the 100 block of Taylor Road in Haughton, was arrested Jan. 22 and charged with physically abusing her 72-year-old wheel-chair-bound mother. She had been living at her mother’s residence as a caregiver for about four months.
Bossier detectives determined that in the early morning of Jan. 22, Belinda abused her mother in various ways, apparently after her mother refused to give Belinda some of her mother’s prescription medication. She removed her mother’s oxygen tubes, rammed her wheelchair (with her mother in it) into a door, struck her mother several times in the back of her head, twisted her nose, poked her in the chest and even forced her into the backseat of Belinda’s vehicle and drove down the highway with the window rolled down with outside temperatures in the 30s.
Belinda eventually robbed her mother of her prescription medication, and investigators also found her to be in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility Friday afternoon on the following charges:
- Cruelty to the infirmed
- Domestic abuse battery with strangulation
- Aggravated battery
- Possession of marijuana 2nd offense
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Her bond is set at $411,500.
