Soon four of the six high school football teams in Bossier Parish will be playing their home games on artificial turf fields.

Thursday night, the Bossier Parish School Board approved a motion to make improvements at Haughton High’s Harold E. Harlan Stadium. The stadium is getting an artificial turf field.

Once it is installed, Bossier, Airline, Parkway and Haughton will all have home stadiums with turf fields. Only Benton and Plain Dealing won’t.

A post on Haughton High School Football’s Facebook site stated the following.

“This will be a huge resource to every team and extracurricular group on our campus and in our community.

“We cannot thank the Board enough. Special thanks to our district representatives Mr. Kent Bockhaus and Mrs. Billie Jo Brotherton, and Mr. Eric Newman.”

When the fields at M.D. Ray Field at Airline Stadium and Bobby Marlow Field at Preston Crownover Stadium we’re installed, the work was basically completed by the end of the summer just before the beginning of the season.

The estimated cost is $1.4 million which is similar to the cost of the installations at Airline Stadium and Preston Crownover.
