Henry Burns announces candidacy for State Senate Dist. 36

Henry Burns

Minden, LA –Louisiana Representative Henry Burns will announce his candidacy today for State Senate District 36, currently represented by Senator Robert Adley.

Burns explained, “Between now and the fall election, there is more work to be done.  The 2015 Louisiana Legislative session, a fiscal session, will center on the budget.  Falling oil prices have just recently added to the short fall.  By law, the budget has to be balanced.  Some say that we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.  Both angles are coming into play this session.  Education, healthcare and transportation–with more than a $12 billion back log on highway and bridge projects–are some of the significant issues that will be faced.  Locally in northwest Louisiana, two important and public issues are the safe disposal of M-6 propellant at Camp Minden and the scourge of Giant Salvinia on our bodies of water.  Prayers for wisdom will be appreciated in handling these issues and I need your help in this fall.  I look forward to the opportunity to continue to visit with the people of this district to listen to their concerns for the future of our community.”

The announcement will be made at 1 p.m. More information will follow the announcement.
