High school baseball: Airline, Benton, Haughton post tournament victories

The Airline Vikings, Benton Tigers and Haughton Bucs were victorious in tournaments Friday.

Airline edges Jena 2-1 in the Trey Altick Classic in Monroe. Benton defeated Loyola 3-0 and Haughton downed Evangel Christian 12-5 in games that were part of the Northwood tournament.

In another Northwood tournament game, Parkway fell to Northwood 12-2.

Elsewhere, Bossier defeated Plain Dealing 18-8.

Airline’s Evan Wendrock pitched a three-hitter. He struck out five and walked only one.

Six Vikings had hits. Mason Lusk had a double. Logan Scripture and Brock Jordan had one RBI each.

Airline (2-3) continues play in the tournament Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Hahnville at Ruston.

Benton’s Kade Bryant tossed a three-hitter. He struck out eight and walked two.

Bryson Pierce had two doubles. Griffin Sibley had a double and an RBI. Cooper Mason and Jackson Jones had one RBI each.

Benton (6-1) hosts Sacred Heart Friday at 5.

Haughton’s  Braden Adams went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Judson Adkison went 2-for-3. 

JP Cormier had three RBI. Christian Turner had a double.

Landon Rolland picked up his first win:

Haughton (5-2) hosts Taylor, Ark., Friday at 5.

At Northwood, Parkway led 2-0 after four but the Falcons put 12 on the board in the bottom of the fifth.

Sean Waits had a double. Northwood only had three hits but the Falcons took advantage of 12 walks, including nine in the fifth.

Parkway (5-2) is scheduled to play Loyola Friday at 6:30 at Northwood.

At Rusheon, Plain Dealing’s Dayton Blake had two hits and two RBI. Tyrese Kimble had a double and two RBI.
