High school baseball: Airline improves to 6-1 in 1-5A with victory over Southwood

The Airline Vikings rolled past the Southwood Cowboys 19-8 in a District 1-5A makeup game Wednesday at Southwood.

District leader Airline (13-8, 6-1) will try to complete a district sweep of Natchitoches Central Thursday at 6 p.m. at Airline. The Vikings won the first game 8-1 Tuesday.

Airline had 22 hits against Southwood (5-19, 0-7).

Tyler Ferguson went 4-for-5 with a double. Harrison Waxley went 3-for-6 with a home run and four RBI.

Clayton Brandon went 3-for-6 with two doubles 

Carson Carey, Caleb Hemmings, Matthew Scripture and Noah Littleton had two hits apiece.

Littleton had a triple and three RBI. Carey had a double and two RBI. Scripture had two RBI. Hemmings had a double. Mason Morgan had a double.

Starter Evan Wendrock gave up two hits and no runs in two innings, Logan Thurman allowed one hit and struck out five in three innings. Mason Lusk allowed two hits and no runs in 1 2/3?innings.
