High school baseball: Airline notches two shutout victories in Lakeside tournament

The Airline Vikings picked up two shutout victories in the Bistineau Classic Thursday.

The tournament’s host is Lakeside but both both games were played at Minden High’s field.

Airline defeated Pine Tree (Longview, Texas) 10-0 in five innings in the first game and Minden 5-0 in the second.

Silas Endris pitched a two-hitter against Pine Tree. He struck out seven and walked none.

Six Vikings combined for seven hits. Brock Jordan went 2-for-3. Jack Horton had a double. Ayden Hawn had two RBI.

The Vikings led 3-0 after four innings then ended the game with seven in the bottom of the fifth.

Bo Carter went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI against Minden. Crew Chandler also went 2-for-3. Austin Smith went 2-for-4. Horton had a double.

Starter Leo Heng went 4 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked two. Marshall Beaver didn’t give up a hit and walked none in 1 1/3 innings.

Airline led 1-0 after three innings then put up four in the top of the fourth.

The Vikings (5-5) continue play in the tournament Saturday against Lakeside at 6.

Elsewhere, Parkway fell to Southside 7-1 in the Ascension Episcopal tournament. Kamron Blackshire went 2-for-3.

Parkway (3-3) plays Rayne at Friday at 4:30.
