High school baseball: Airline wins sixth straight; Benton, Parkway, PCA notch victories


The Airline Vikings and Benton Tigers both defeated Anacoco Saturday on the final day of the Jason Bland Memorial Tournament at Airline.

Airline won 10-0 and Benton won 14-0

Parkway split a pair of games on the final day of the East Ascension tournament, defeating Brother Martin 8-2 and losing to St. Amant 7-4.

In an MAIS game Friday, Providence Classical Academy defeated Riverdale Academy 12-2 in Coushatta.

At Airline, Carter White pitched a five-inning two-hitter as Airline won its sixth in a row. He struck out five and walked none .

Six Vikings had hits. Triston Hargrave went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.

Airline (6-2) is scheduled to host North DeSoto Monday at 6 p.m.

Cole Weir’s bases-loaded hit in the top of the sixth gave Benton a 13-0 lead. Cale Latimer drove in the final run.

Bryson Pierce had an RBI-double in the sixth.

Colby Leeper, Aiden Colvin and Latimer combined on the shutout.

Leeper struck out three in two innings, and Colvin struck out four in two. Latimer struck out the side in the bottom of the sixth on 10 pitches.

Benton (6-3-2) is scheduled to host Calvary Baptist Tuesday at 6.

Parkway’s Sean Waits pitched a complete game against Brother Martin. He scattered eight hits and struck out four. He also went 2-for-4.

Tanner Kirkland went 4-for-5. Ashton Martin went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Cameron Fink went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Parkway led St. Amant 4-3 through 4.5 innings, but the Gators scored three in the bottom of the fifth and added one in the sixth.

Parkway pitchers Tyler Bouillon and Colton Smith limited St. Amant to three hits. Four errors hurt the Panthers.

Trenton Lape went 2-for-3 with a triple. Bouillon went 2-for-4 with a double,

Parkway (6-6) is scheduled to host Loyola Tuesday at 6.

At Riverdale, PCA’s Taft Prince went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Cedric Donald had two hits and three RBI. He also had three stolen bases.

Prince, Donald and Riley Douglas combined on a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

PCA also has wins over Union Christian, 7-6, and Shreveport Force, 13-2.

The Knights face Franklin Academy at 6 Tuesday at Tinsley Park Field No. 1.
