The Benton Tigers, Haughton Bucs and Parkway Panthers won District 1-5A games Thursday and the Airline Vikings picked up a non-district victory.
Benton defeated Evangel Christian 15-2 at Benton and Haughton downed Captain Shreve 4-2 at Shreve. Parkway swept Huntington 15-0 and 17-0 at Parkway. Airline routed Zwolle 15-0 at Airline.
At Evangel, Benton scored 11 runs in the first inning and added four more in the second in the five-inning game.
Brody Turnipseed had two triples and four RBI. Case Jorden had two doubles. Hayden had Millen had two hits.
Beckett Moore, Cole Snell, Kade Bryant and Jackson Jones all had two RBI. Snell had a double.
Tanner Webb pitched two innings for the win. He allowed no hits, struck out five and walked one.
Jones and Bryson Gates had three strikeouts each. Slade Steohens had two.
Benton (23-1, 9-0) visits Jena Friday at 6. The Tigers and Eagles (7-14, 0-9) are scheduled to complete the district series Saturday at Evangel at 1.
At Captain Shreve, Seth Breen had two hits and three RBI. JP Cormier went 2-for-3. Seth Jorstad went 2-for-4.
Ashton Neighbors went five innings for the win. Justin Adkison got the save.
The Bucs led 2-1 after four then added two more in the top of the sixth.
Haughton (19-5, 7-2) and Captain Shreve (5-6) are scheduled to complete the series Saturday at Haughton at 1.
At Parkway, Colby Donaldson, Gabe Armond and Trent Howard all had two hits in the three-inning first game. Donaldson, Howard, Abel Thetford and Maddox Cockerham had one double apiece. Donaldson had four RBI, Thetford three and Armond two. Dakota Armour had a triple:
Carsen Barringer struck out five and walked one in two innings. River Copeland struck out two in the third.
Eight Panthers had hits in the three-inning second game. Thetford hit a three-run home run. Howard, Armond and C Edmonson all had doubles. Howard and Edmonson had two RBI each.
Hunter Schneider struck out four and walked one in two innings. Garrett Clute struck out three and walked one in the third.
Parkway (9-11, 4-6), which has won five in a row, visits Glenbrook Friday at 6.
At Airline, 12 Vikings combined for 13 hits in the four-inning game. Leo Heng went 2-for-2 with a triple and five RBI.
Brock Jordan had a triple. Jack Henry Smith didn’t allow a hit in three innings. He struck out seven and walked one. Sam Fisher didn’t allow a hit or a walk in the fourth. He struck out two.
Airline (15-8) visits North DeSoto Saturday at 1.
