The Benton Tigers and Haughton Bucs continued to set the pace in District 1-5A with victories Thursday.
Benton defeated Captain Shreve 10-3 at Benton, and Haughton edged Parkway 4-2 at Haughton.
Benton (20-1, 6-0) and Haughton (18-3, 6-0) are tied for the district lead. The Tigers have won nine in a row and the Bucs have won 12 straight.
Benton and Haughton are scheduled to begin a two-game series Saturday at Benton at 1 p.m.
Elsewhere in 1-5A, Airline fell to Natchitoches Central 6-1 in Natchitoches.
Bossier routed Booker T. Washington 21-3 in a District 1-4A game at Rusheon. The Bearkats (5-3, 2-0) completed the two-game sweep.
At Benton, Jackson Jones went 3-for-3 with a triple, double and three RBI. Griffin Sibley went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Case Jorden went 2-for-4. Colton Birdsong and Rydon McCormack both doubled.
Tanner Webb went five innings for the win. He allowed four hits, struck out seven and walked only one. Jaxon Prewitt pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
Captain Shreve dropped to 13-8 and 4-4.
At Haughton, Justin Adkison pitched six scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and struck out four.
Maddox Williams had three RBI. Christian Turner went 2-for-3. Drake Cooper brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.
Parkway’s Colby Donaldson went 2-for-4. Gabe Armond gave up five hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked two.
At Natchitoches Central, Airline had just three hits off Chiefs starter Adam Guillet, who went six innings.
Airline’s Leo Heng scattered six hits and walked two in six innings. The Vikings hurt themselves with six errors. They also left eight on base.
Airline (12-7, 6-2) is scheduled to start a two-game series against Byrd Saturday at 1 at Airline. Natchitoches Central improved to 15-5 and 6-2.
