The Benton Tigers smacked four home runs in an 11-0, five-inning, District 1-4A victory over the Northwood Falcons on Wednesday at Benton.
Benton improved to 20-12 overall and 9-2 in district. The Tigers are tied with North DeSoto (20-13, 9-2), which defeated Minden 13-7 Wednesday at home, for first.
Benton closes the regular season at Northwood (21-8, 8-3) on Thursday at 6 p.m. If the Tigers win, they can do no worse than share the district championship. It will be Benton’s sixth straight title.
North DeSoto and Minden (18-9, 8-3) play again Thursday at Minden.
Cole Horton hit two home runs and had seven RBI. His first, a three-run shot in the first, gave Benton a 3-0 lead. His second, also a three-run blast, came in a five-run fourth inning and put the Tigers on top 10-0.
Clint Lasiter led off the fourth with a home run. Sam Simmons hit a solo homer in the third.
The Tigers had 15 hits. Cade Scott and Cody Norris both went 3-for-3. Garrett Hable went 2-for-3 with a triple. Simmons also went 2-for-3.
Brennan Blaylock had a double and two RBI. Peyton Long also doubled.
Andrew McPherson got the win. He allowed four hits and struck out five in 4 1/3 innings.
In another District 1-4A game, the Bossier Bearkats defeated the Woodlawn Knights 12-2 in five innings.
Kaleb Harlow pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Jon Mikal Robertson went 2-for-3. Devin Snipes and Rangel Miller each had one hit and scored two runs.
Bossier improved to 6-18 overall and 3-8 in district.
