Austin Anderson pitched a no-hitter as the Haughton Bucs opened District 1-5A play Tuesday night with a 16-0 victory over defending champion Benton at Benton.
The other two 1-5A openers involving parish teams — Byrd (9-5) at Parkway (7-9) and Airline (6-7) at Southwood (4-11) — were postponed because of Tuesday morning’s heavy rain,
The Parkway-Byrd game is scheduled for Wednesday at 6.
At Benton, Anderson (5-0) struck out 11 and walked three. He struck out the final six batters.
Haughton (14-2) had 15 hits. Colin Rains went 4-for-4 with a home run, three doubles and five RBI.
Roman Tolbert also went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Anderson went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Nick Hensley scored three runs.
Benton dropped to 7-8-2. The teams are scheduled to face off again Thursday at 6 at Haughton.
