The Haughton Buccaneers defeated St. Amant 9-4 in the Trey Altick Classic in Sterlington on Friday, giving longtime coach Glenn Maynor his 500th career win.
Airline also defeated St. Amant 10-0 in the Trey Altick event Friday at West Monroe.
Benton lost two close games, falling to Sylvan Hills (Arkansas) 2-1 and Baton Rouge Central 8-1. Both games were played at Neville.
Parkway defeated Pineville 9-4 at Ouachita Christian.
At Sterlington, Jonathan Plant and Mason Simmons had two hits each in the Bucs’ victory over St. Amant. Cameron Townsend had four RBI.
Plant also got the victory, allowing five hits in six innings and striking out six.
Haughton improved to 4-4.
At West Monroe, Cameron Parikh allowed just two hits in five innings in Airline’s victory over St. Amant. Parikh also went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Josh James hit a solo home run and reached base three times on walks. Lannon Broadway had a two=RBI double.
Airline improved to 4-3.
At Neville, Legend Denler allowed just four hits in six innings against Sylvan Hills. The Tigers had trouble getting the bats going, managing just four hits also.
Garrett Hable went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI against Central. Benton dropped to 6-4.
At Ouachita Christian, Derious Bradford went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Parkway’s win over Pineville.
Amani Larry had two hits and an RBI. Caleb Reese had a two-RBI double.
Parker Stevens scattered six hits in innings, struck out four and walked only one.
Parkway improved to 5-1 under first-year coach David George.
