Bossier Parish teams completed a successful three days of baseball in the Airline Jason Bland Memorial tournament with victories Saturday.
The Benton Tigers completed a 4-0 run with victories over West Ouachita 5-1 and Captain Shreve 9-3.
The Airline Vikings completed a 3-1 run with wins over Neville 9-7 and Ruston 7-6.
The Parkway Panthers also went 3-1 in the tournament, defeating Neville 9-4.
Haughton split games to finish 2-2. The Bucs defeated Natchitoches Central 5-2 and lost to West Ouachita 3-2.
Elsewhere, Bossier won two games in the Peabody tournament in Alexandria, defeating Landry-Walker 6-4 and Northside 13-12.
At Airline, seven Tigers had hits in the win over West Ouachita. Connor Smith had a triple. Cole Horton and Peyton Long both had singles and walked twice.
Turner Toms got the win, allowing one earned run in three innings. Cameron Ross allowed just two hits in four innings of relief.
The game was a rematch of the last season’s 4A quarterfinals. The Chiefs won the best-of-three series two games to none.
The game was delayed by rain in the fourth inning and completed after Benton’s win over Captain Shreve.
At Shreve, Colby Sharp pitched a complete game against the Gators, allowing five hits and striking out four.
Sam Simmons went 3-for-3. Smith, Garrett Hable and Coleman Nerren had two hits apiece. Horton and Ross had two RBI each.
Benton (13-4), which has won seven in a row, hosts Huntington in District 1-4A action Tuesday.
At Airline, Chase Hodges had three hits and pitched a complete game in Airline’s win over Neville.
Cameron Parikh went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Jonathan Brandon and Anthony Mulrenin had two hits each. Josh James had a two-RBI double.
The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past Ruston after the Bearcats scored two in the top of the inning to take a 6-5 lead.
Brandon led off the seventh with a double. Following back-to-back walks, Peyton Jordan scored Brandon and Cameron Parikh with a single to center field.
Brandon had two doubles in the game. James went 2-for-3. Jordan also had two hits. Hunter Hollis had an RBI.
Starter Ryan Lawhorne allowed five hits in six innings and struck out five.
Airline, which has won six of its last seven, improved to 9-4.
At Parkway, the Panthers scored five runs in the fifth to take a 9-2 lead over Neville.
Larry went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Caleb Reese went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Derious Bradford also had two hits.
Williams pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and striking out five.
Parkway (9-3) has already matched its victory total of last season.
At Haughton, Sam Herren and Cameron Townsend had two hits each in the Bucs’ win over Natchitoches Central. Jathon Patton had a two-RBI double.
Townsend scattered seven hits in six innings to pick up the win.
The Bucs limited West Ouachita to five hits but managed just four of their own. Starter Jonathan Plant allowed four hits in four innings and struck out five. Jayson Nitz allowed only one hit in three innings of relief.
The Bucs (6-8) host Neville Tuesday.
At Alexandria, Xavier Murphy, Chase Bounds and Kaleb Harlow had one double each in Bossier’s win over Landry-Walker. Harlow was the winning pitcher.
Murphy went 3-for-4 in the win over Northside. Durrell May had two hits and three RBI. Devin Snipes went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Kaleb Ortega also had two hits. Bounds had a double.
Bossier improved to 5-8.
