The Parkway Panthers, Airline Vikings and Benton Tigers are tied for first in District 1-5A.
Parkway handed Airline its second district loss, 13-0, in the opening game of their two-game series Saturday at Parkway.
In the other 1-5A games, Benton routed Captain Shreve 15-2 at Shreve, Haughton downed Southwood 10-0 at Haughton and Byrd dropped Natchitoches Central 8-5 in Natchitoches.
Parkway (15-11), Airline (15-9) and Benton (15-9-2) are all 7-2 in the district. They are followed by Haughton (18-6, 5-4), Captain Shreve (11-15, 4-5), Byrd (12-12, 3-6), Natchitoches Central (14-13, 3-6) and Southwood (5-20, 0-9).
At Parkway, Cade Josting pitched a three-hitter in the five-inning game.
Zach Schoenborn and Barrett Newman both went 3-for-3 with doubles.
Ashton Martin went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Tanner Kirkland went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Trenton Lape had a two-RBI double. Cameron Fink and Shawn Driggers had two RBI each.
Airline’s Carson Carey went 2-for-2. Harrison Waxley had a double.
Parkway got off to a fast start, scoring seven runs on four singles and a double in the bottom of the first. The Panthers also took advantage of a couple of errors. Driggers and Newman had back-to-back singles with two outs and Lape followed with his double.
The series is scheduled to conclude at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Airline.
At Captain Shreve, Hudson Brignac had three of Benton’s 13 hits.
Brady Blaylock had two-RBI hits in the first and second to help the Tigers build an early lead. He also scored on a squeeze bunt by Cade Stewart to give Benton a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
Stewart drove in a run to put the Tigers on top 6-0 in the second.
Preston Hill went five innings for the win. Cale Latimer struck out three in the final two innings.
The series is scheduled to conclude at 6 Tuesday at Benton.
At Haughton, Caleb Brown pitched a no-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks in the five-inning game.
Southwood’s only baserunner reached on an error in the first inning.
Parker Lowrie went 3-for-3. Nick Hensley went 2-for-2. Roman Tolbert went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Colin Rains also went 2-for-3.
The series is scheduled to conclude at 6 Tuesday at Southwood.
On Friday, Plain Dealing improved to 6-9 with a 13-3 home District 1-1A victory over Homer.
