High school baseball: Parkway downs Claiborne Christian


Amani Larry had three hits, including a double, as the Parkway Panthers defeated 2016 Class C state champ Claiborne Christian 5-2 Friday at Parkway.

Caleb Reese went 2-for-3 with a double. Derious Bradford and Eric Brown both tripled. Eric Williams and Collier Cloinger had doubles.

Peyton Lewis and Landon Kirkland combined on a three-hitter.

Claiborne Christian (9-7) had a seven-game winning streak snapped.

Reese drove in a run in the first inning with a single. Parkway scored two in the third on the triples by Bradford and Brown. Larry brought home a run with his double in the fourth. The Panthers added one in the sixth on Williams’ double.

Parkway (13-9) was coming off a tough 2-1 District 1-5A loss to Airline on Thursday at Airline. The Panthers (2-3 1-5) host the Vikings (14-10, 3-0) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Benton (19-6) hosts Haughton (11-14) in a non-district game at 1.
