The Parkway Panthers fell to the Byrd Yellow Jackets 13-1 in a District 1-5A opener Wednesday at Ronnie Coker Field.
The Panthers (7-10) won’t have to wait long to redeem themselves. The teams are scheduled to complete the two-game district set Thursday at 6 p.m. at Byrd’s field at LSUS.
After Tuesday’s game was postponed, Airline (6-7) opens 1-5A play against Southwood (4-11) at 6 at Airline.
Haughton (14-2, 1-0) and Benton (7-8-2, 0-1) complete their district series at 6 at Haughton. The Bucs won the opener 16-0 Tuesday at Benton.
At Parkway, Byrd’s David Favrot allowed four hits and struck out 11.
One of the hits was a home run by Trenton Lape in the bottom of the third. That came after Byrd took a 5-0 lead in the top of the inning.
Parkway’s Tanner Kirkland went 2-for-3. Patrick Snead had three of Byrd’s 10 hits as the Yellow Jackets improved to 10-5.
