The Airline Lady Vikings and Benton Lady Tigers face off in the “Doc” Edwards Invitational girls championship game Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Both teams won two games Tuesday to reach the finals. Airline (15-6) defeated Woodlawn 49-34 in the quarterfinals and Northwood 59-44 in the semifinals. Benton (14-4) defeated Gibsland-Coleman 49-38 and Hargrave, Texas, 54-50.
Airline edged Benton 48-46 in a District 1-5A game on Dec. 17.
Kayla Hampton poured in 21 points to lead Airline against Northwood. Kori Rice had 14 points and four blocks.
Endia Pradier scored nine points and Faith Rush had eight.
Marshall and Rice scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, against Woodlawn.
Marissa Schoth paced Benton against Hargrave with 20 points.
Jada Stewart added 14 and Kennedy Stevens 10.
Benton enjoy balanced scoring against Gibsland-Coleman. Tate Sellers led the Lady Tigers with 11 points followed by Schoth with 10 and Stewart with nine.
In another girls quarterfinal game, Bossier fell to Hargrave 56-47. Sanaa Brown led the Lady Kats with 31.
In a girls consolation quarterfinal, Plain Dealing defeated Minden 41-28. The Lady Lions lost to Booker T. Washington in the semifinals.
In a boys quarterfinal, Airline fell to Northwood 54-45. Trevon Jackson led the Vikings with 14 points. Cameron Walker added nine.
Booker T. Washington (12-4) plays Captain Shreve (10-4) in the boys championship game at 7:30.
The Lions edged Lakeview 52-51 in the quarterfinals and Northwood 69-41 in the semifinals. The Gators defeated Red River 51-29 in the other semifinal game.
