High school basketball: Airline boys rally past Plain Dealing; Airline, Bossier girls win


The Airline Vikings rallied from a six-point deficit after three quarters to defeat the Plain Dealing Lions 60-53 in a boys basketball game Friday night in Plain Dealing.

The Lions led 38-32 going into the fourth. But the Vikings exploded for 28 points in the final period, outscoring the Lions by 13.

Senior forward KJ Bilbo led Airline (7-4) with 24 points. Bilbo scored 11 points in the fourth period. He was five of six from the free throw line in the quarter and 10 of 12 in the game.

Fred Lemons hit six of six free throws in the final period. The Vikings were 14 of 18 from the line in the fourth.

Trace Parker scored six of his nine points in the fourth.

Jakaleb McGee and DeAnthony Briggs led Plain Dealing (1-5) with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Dakeldrick Oliver added nine.

The Lions were six of nine from the line in the fourth quarter and 10 of 14 in the game.

The Airline girls won their fourth game in a row, defeating Plain Dealing 50-30. The Lady Vikings improved to 7-7. Plain Dealing dropped to 4-6.

Bossier got a big win at home, defeating perennial Class 5A power Southwood 35-32. The Lady Kats (7-9) ended a four-game losing streak.

Southwood dropped to 11-3. The Lady Cowboys’ only other losses were to three-time defending Class 2A state champion North Caddo.
