High school basketball: Bossier boys knock off defending 3A champ Peabody in City of Lights Classic; Airline girls fall in OT

The Bossier Bearkats defeated defending Class 3A state champ Peabody 68-61 in the City of Lights Classic on Tuesday in Natchitoches.

Jacoby Decker led four Bearkats in double figures with 21 points. Kaalas Roots added 12. Tyron McCoy and Tim King scored 11 each.

Decker made five of Bossier’s six 3-pointers.

The game was tied at 43 going into the fourth quarter. The Bearkats outscored the Warhorses 25-18 in the final period.

Kyron Gibson led Peabody with 37 points.

Bossier (4-0) completes play in the event against Natchitoches Central on Wednesday night at 7.

The Airline Lady Vikings suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday in the City of Lights Classic, falling to Huntington 47-43 in overtime.

Taaliyah Johnson and Zahria Lloyd led Airline with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Lady Vikings rallied from a 28-19 halftime deficit, outscoring the Lady Raiders 22-13 in the second half, including 12-7 in the fourth quarter. The game went into overtime tied at 41.

Airline plays its final game in the event against Natchitoches Central at 5:30 Wednesday.
