High school basketball: Bossier falls to Washington-Marion in OT in 4A title game rematch


The Bossier Bearkats fell to Washington-Marion 54-48 in overtime in a rematch of last season’s Class 4A boys basketball state championship game Saturday night at the Centenary Gold Dome.

The game was the finale of the first metroPCS Battle of the Hardwood Classic.

The Bearkats led 25-21 at the half, and the game went into OT tied at 44. Tyrese English and Antonio “Rudy” Davis led Bossier with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Chris Davenport added eight.

Bossier went 2-1 in the event, defeating Captain Shreve 58-24 and Tyler, Texas, Robert E. Lee 83-39.

The Bearkats have some more tough games ahead of them in the Natchitoches Central tournament.

They face 2016 Class 5A semifinalist H.L. Bourgeois at 4:30 p.m. Monday, 2016 Class 3A semifinalist North Caddo at 1:30 Tuesday and defending Class 5A state champ Natchitoches Central at 7 Wednesday.

The Plain Dealing girls defeated Green Oaks 47-36 Saturday morning at Fair Park to finish 2-0 in the Battle on the Hardwood.
