High school basketball: Bossier, Plain Dealing seek quarterfinal berths Tuesday night

The Bossier Bearkats and Plain Dealing Lions play second-round games in the LHSAA boys basketball playoffs Tuesday night.

Defending state champ Bossier (29-6), the No. 2 seed, hosts No. 15 Lafayette Northside (19-9) at 7 p.m. in Class 4A. Bossier routed No. 31 West Ouachita 63-22 in the first round on Friday. Northside defeated No. 18 Crowley 59-45.

Plain Dealing (11-12), the No. 11 seed, visits No. 6 Tensas (23-10) in Class 1A. Tipoff is at 6:30 in the Newellton Elementary School gym. The Lions routed No. 22 Homer 78-40 in the first round. Tensas defeated No. 27 South Cameron 65-29.

Northside, which has won four in a row, finished 6-4 in District 4-4A. The Vikings have a tall front line that includes 6-foot-6 and 6-7 players.

Tensas, a member of District 2-1A, comes into the second round with a six-game winning streak. The Panthers have won 11 of their last 13.
