High school basketball: Bossier’s Manning, Airline’s Hampton selected to play in All-Star games

Bossier’s Joseph Manning and Airline’s Kayla Hampton have been selected to play on the West teams in the Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association East-West All-Star Games.

The games are scheduled for Saturday at 1 (girls) and 3 p.m. (boys) at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville. Only seniors are eligible for selection.

Manning averaged 17.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.1 steals. Named the District 1-3A MVP for the second straight year, he led the Bearkats to a 27-8 record. Bossier reached the state tournament, falling to Wossman in the semifinals.

Hampton averaged 17.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.1 assists. A first-team All-District 1-5A selection, she led the Lady Vikings to a 23-13 record and a first-round playoff victory.

Airline Head Coach Lyndzee McConathy will serve as an assistant on the girls West team.

Other area boys on the West roster are Southwood’s Mar’Quarius Johnson, Booker T. Washington’s Calvein Collins and Jacoby Jackson, Calvary Baptist’s Labree Williams, Evangel Christian’s Lance Waddles and Huntington’s Rayshun McCulluar.

Other area girls on the West roster are Lakeview’s Jameisha Fisher, Captain Shreve’s Zoe Manning and Zwolle’s Lindsey Sepulvado.
