High school bowling: Parkway girls finish regular season 12-0

The Parkway Lady Panthers completed a perfect regular season with a 20-7 victory over the Airline Lady Vikings on Monday at Holiday Lanes.

The Lady Panthers (12-0) finished four games ahead of Airline (8-4) in the district standings.

Pearl Merry led Parkway with a 253 high game and 555 series. Nicole Taylor bowled a 202 high game and Katie Black had a 175.

Merry’s 253 was just five pins short of the season high game of 258 by Byrd’s Celeste Thedford.

Taylor led all girls bowlers during the season with a 185 average. Thedford was second at 183. Black had a 166 average.

Bailey Russell bowled Airline’s high game of 200 against Parkway. Trista Quinley had the high series of 477, including a 166. Courtney Riede bowled a 167 high game.

Quinley finished the season with a 174 average.

The Regional Playoffs are March 16 at Holiday Lanes.

In the boys quarterfinals, No. 1 seed Parkway faces No. 8 Byrd, No. 4 Haughton takes on No. 5 Loyola, No. 2 Airline plays No. 7 Bossier and No. 3 Benton meets No. 6 Minden.

In the girls semifinals, No. 1 Parkway faces No. 4 Loyola and No. 2 Airline plays No. 3 Byrd.

The top three boys and two girls teams advance to the Bi-Regionals March 24 in Houma.

Three boys and two girls from the losing teams will also advance.
