High school bowling: Three parish boys bowl 600-plus series in Monday’s action at Holiday Lanes


Airline’s Max Mendones, Benton’s Jacob Gafnea and Haughton’s Austin Patton bowled 600-plus series in boys high school matches Monday at Holiday Lanes.

Mendones bowled a 643, including a 233 game, in a 21-6 victory over Byrd.

Gafnea bowled a 636, including a 233 game, in a 24-3 victory over Bossier.

Patton bowled a 605, including the day’s best game of 256, in a 17-10 loss to Captain Shreve. Shreve’s Jaylon Jackson also bowled a 600-plus series with a 621, including a 221 game.

Airline’s Gage Moore bowled a high game of 222 against Byrd. Kaleb Vesek had a 190.

Benton’s Zach Roden had a 189 high game against Bossier. Ben Miller bowled a 186.

Marcus Harris led Bossier with a 360 series. Wali Muntaqim and Harris bowled high games of 142 and 141, respectively. Channing Kelly had a 120.

In girls matches, Benton defeated Bossier 26-1 and Parkway fell to Loyola 27-0. 

Caitlin Lawrence led Benton with a 539 series. Michaela Celichowski bowled a high game of 162, and Alexa Guajardo had a 143.

Bree Lewis led Bossier with a 472 series, including a 185 game. 

Aysia Evans led Parkway with 420 series, including a 155 game. Bailee Elliott bowled a 141 high game.

In last Thursday’s girls matches, Trista Quinley bowled a 619 series, including a 246 game, as Airline stayed undefeated with a 20-7 victory over Benton.

Airline’s Paris Mendones bowled a 231 high game, and LaBresha Lars had a 166.

Lawrence led Benton with a 518 series, including a 215 game. Brooke Hill and Guajardo had high games of 156 and 142, respectively.

In another girls match involving a parish team, Bossier fell to Byrd 22-5.

Lewis led Bossier with a 392 series and 139 game. Mackenzy Metts and Karlie Jackson bowled high games of 130 and 124, respectively.

In boys matches involving parish teams, Airline defeated Parkway 27-0, Haughton downed Byrd 23-4, Benton defeated Loyola 21-6 and Bossier lost to Minden 25-2.

In a boys match Wednesday, Airline fell to Captain Shreve 21-6.

Airline’s Chris Kouba had games of 216 and 210 as part of a 607 high series in the victory over Byrd. Mendones had the Vikings’ high game of 256. Kaleb Vesek bowled a 180 high game.

Patton led Haughton with a 610 series, including a 225 game. Cade Silba had a high game of 205 and Tyler Eggleton bowled a 180.

Roden led Benton with a 561 high game. Caleb Lawrence had the team’s high game of 188. Gafnea and Roden had high games of 178 and 177, respectively.

Moses Thomas led Bossier with a 320 series. Case Ostrom had the Bearkats’ high game of 117.

Kouba had Airline’s high series against Shreve with a 527. Cody Shows bowled the Vikings’ high game of 224. Kouba bowled a 197 high game and Brennan Wilson bowled a 192.

Shreve’s Jackson had a 614 series, including a 244 high game.

With Bossier Parish schools on spring break next week, the regular season ends Thursday. The official end is March 13.

The bi-regional playoffs begin March 23.
