The Airline Vikings opened District 1-5A play with a 64-29 victory over the Byrd Yellow Jackets Friday night at Airline.
The Benton Tigers and Haughton Bucs both lost their district openers. Benton fell to district newcomer Huntington 51-44 at Benton. Haughton dropped a 71-27 decision to Natchitoches Central in Natchitoches.
In the other 1-5A opener, Captain Shreve defeated Evangel Christian 60-50 at Shreve.
In non-district games, Parkway defeated Southwood 63-30 at Parkway, and Providence Classical Academy fell to Glenbrook 37-28 in Minden.
At Airline, the Vikings improved to 9-12. Byrd dropped to 5-14.
Eli Washington had a big game for the Vikings. He scored 25 points and had nine rebounds and three steals.
Joshua White had 15 points and six rebounds. Jaydan Gladney had seven points, six rebounds and five assists.
At Benton, the Tigers dropped to 6-10. Huntington improved to 14-5.
At Natchitoches Central, the Bucs fell to 13-9. Natchitoches Central improved to 14-5.
At Parkway, the Panthers improved to 11-9. The Cowboys dropped to 5-11.
