High school boys basketball: Bossier, Airline fall on Day 2 of Parkway tournament

The Bossier Bearkats and Airline Vikings both fell Thursday night on Day 2 of the Barksdale Federal Credit Union Parkway Basketball Showcase.

Bossier lost to Red River 51-41, and Airline fell to Idabel, Okla., 73-33.

Bossier trailed 35-33 after the third quarter. The Bearkats didn’t score in the fourth until there was just under 4:30 left in the game. That cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 39-35.

But Bossier went cold after that, missing several 3-pointers. Red River extended the lead to 47-35. The Bearkats finally hit a couple of 3s to get within 47-41 with 24.7 seconds left, but it was too late.

Kerel Dean led Bossier (3-3) with 12 points. Justin Slaid added nine.

The Bearkats face Idabel at 6:40 Saturday in the tournament’s final game.

Here is Friday’s schedule: Ringgold vs. North Caddo, 4 p.m.; Southwood vs.,Green Oaks, 5:20; Evangel Christian vs. Northwood, 6:40; Idabel vs. Parkway, 8.

Elsewhere, Benton fell to Avoyelles Public Charter 43-39 in the ASH tournament in Alexandria. The Tigers dropped to 4-3.

Haughton fell to Quitman 53-49 in the Cedar Creek tournament in Ruston. The Bucs dropped to 4-6.
