High school boys basketball: Bossier, Airline, Haughton get district wins

The Bossier Bearkats, Airline Vikings and Haughton Bucs won district games Friday night.

In District 1-4A, Bossier defeated Minden 71-52 at Minden. 

In District 1-5A, Airline defeated Parkway 73-68 at Parkway and Haughton edged Benton 57-54 at Haughton. Natchitoches Central (21-2, 6-0), which is tied for first in the loss column with Huntington, defeated Captain Shreve 65-51.

In District 1-1A, Plain Dealing fell to Jonesboro-Hodge 68-53 at Plain Dealing.

In District 1-B, Providence Classical Academy lost to Castor 73-54 at Castor.

At Minden, Ron Dillard led Bossier (17-6, 4-0) with 17 points. Montrevell Lewis added 14 and DT Thomas 12.

The Bearkats led 17-10 after the first quarter and 36-19 at the half.

Kameron Harris and Gerald Richardson led Minden (10-8, 1-2) with 18 points each. 

Defending champion Bossier is the only 1-4A team without a district loss. The Bearkats are No. 1 in the non-select Division II power rankings.

Bossier faces Alexandria (24-2), the No. 2 team in select Division I, Saturday at 6 p.m. at Calvary Baptist.

At Parkway, Kevin White led 11 Airline players who scored with 20 points. Eli Washington added 12. Jusdan Gladney and Rylon Bailey scored nine each.

Caleb Evans and Tristan Sedberry paced Parkway with 19 points each. Kaleb Williams added 14 and Antonio Gladney 11.

With seven players scoring, Airline got off to a fast start. The Vikings led 20-12 after the first quarter. Sedberry hit two 3-pointers in the second quarter, but the Panthers didn’t make up any ground as the Vikings led 39-28 at the half.

Parkway cut five points off Airline’s lead after three quarters and trailed 53-47. White scored nine in fourth quarter. The Vikings were 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

Gladney (8 points) and Sedberry (7) helped the Panthers stay close.

Parkway (11-10, 2-3) faces Sterlington at Calvary Saturday at 1:30. Airline (13-11, 4-2) hosts Madison Prep at 6.

At Haughton, the Bucs improved to 10-12 overall and 1-4 in district. Benton dropped to 10-12 and 1-4.

Haughton visits Evangel Christian Monday. Benton hosts Parkway. 

At Castor, PCA dropped to 6-15. Castor improved to 18-7. PCA visits Quitman Thursday.
