The Bossier Bearkats clinched at least a share of the District 1-4A championship and the Parkway Panthers moved into a tie for first in District 1-5A with victories Tuesday night.
Bossier defeated Woodlawn 64-57 at Woodlawn. Parkway downed Evangel Christian 53-39 at Parkway.
Bossier improved to 14-11 overall and 6-0 in district. The Bearkats lead Minden (19-3, 5-1) with only Friday’s home game against North DeSoto left in district play.
In other District 1-5A games, Airline edged Benton 37-34 at Benton, Captain Shreve topped Haughton 54-33 at Haughton and Huntington dropped Byrd 61-44.
Parkway (17-10, 6-1) and Natchitoches Central (20-6, 6-1) are tied for the lead. Captain Shreve (18-10, 5-2) is one game back.
Parkway and Shreve close district play against each other Friday at Parkway. Natchitoches Central visits Airline.
At Woodlawn, Kerel Dean led four Bossier players in double figures with 24 points. Kam Davenport had 13, Jatravion Bunnery 12 and David Thomas 11.
The game was tight. Bossier led 55-54 with just under four minutes to play. The Bearkats then closed the game with a 9-3 run.
Dean scored seven in the fourth. Davenport and Thomas hit 3-pointers.
Dean sank three from behind the arc in the first half but the Bearkats trailed 36-29. That was mostly due to the Knights’ six 3s in the second quarter.
Bossier cut the lead to 48-45 after three quarters then came charging back in the fourth.
The Knights had 11 3-pointers in the game. The Bearkats had seven, including three by Thomas.
Jayden White led Woodlawn (10-17, 3-3) with 22 points.
At Parkway, Caleb Evans led the Panthers with 15 points. KB Williams added 12 and Tristan Sedberry nine.
Parkway led 33-21 at the half and 41-33 after three quarters. Evans scored nine of the Panthers’ 11 points in the fourth.
Evangel dropped to 13-13 and 4-3.
At Benton, Airline improved to 11-17 and 3-4. Benton dropped to 8-15 and 1-6.
At Haughton, the Bucs dropped to 17-12 and 3-4.
