Ron Dillard’s tip-in with 5 seconds left lifted the Bossier Bearkats to a 51-50 victory over the Baton Rouge Catholic Bears Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Prep.
The game was the second of seven games in the Michael Lyons Classic.
Bossier, last season’s non-select Division II runner-up, improved to 13-6. Catholic, a quarterfinalist in select Division I last year, dropped to 8-8.
DT Thomas led Bossier with 16 points and was named the game’s MVP.
Dillard scored five of his nine points in the fourth quarter. Montrevell Lewis also scored nine. He was 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the fourth.
Braylon Robinson added eight points.
Catholic led 27-24 at the half. Bossier rallied and took a 36-34 lead into the fourth.
The Bears hit four 3-pointers in the final quarter. Clent Briggs Jr. led four Catholic players in double figures with 13 points.
Bossier opens defense of its District 1-4A championship Friday at home against Booker T. Washington.
