High school boys basketball: Bossier gets revenge against Calvary Baptist in regular-season finale

The Bossier Bearkats closed the regular season with a 56-55 victory over Calvary Baptist Saturday at Calvary.

Calvary came into the game No. 1 in the select Division III power rankings, according to GeauxPreps.com. The Cavaliers (25-3) had won 14 in a row,

Bossier (18-11) extended its winning streak to 11. The Bearkats are No. 6 in the non-select Division II power rankings and will host a first-round playoff game.

Bossier avenged a lopsided 68-29 loss to Calvary in the championship game of the Bossier Invitational on Jan. 4.

Kerel Dean led the Bearkats with 21 points. Tycoreion Williams had 10, David Thomas nine and Jatravion Bunnery eight.

Bossier trailed 15-13 after the first quarter. Williams scored eight in the second quarter to help the Bearkats stay within striking distance. 

Calvary led 33-26 at the half. 

Dean got going in the third quarter. He scored 12 and the Bearkats outscored the Cavaliers 18-9. They led 44-42 heading into the fourth.

Dean and Bunnery scored for each in the fourth. Kam Davenport hit two big free throws and Davenport had a key basket.

Tyrone Jamison led Calvary with 20 points.

The LHSAA will announce official first-round pairings Tuesday.
