High school boys basketball: Bossier reaches semifinals of Bossier Invitational

The Bossier Bearkats advanced to the semifinals of the Bossier Invitational with a 54-47 victory over the Neville Tigers Friday night at Bossier.

Bossier (7-8) plays Good Vision Academy out of Houston in the semifinals Saturday at noon. Captain Shreve (11-5) faces Calvary Baptist (13-2) in the other semifinal at 1:30.

The winners meet for the championship at 7:30.

In the other quarterfinal games, Good Vision defeated Ouachita Parish 79-71, Calvary Baptist downed Evangel Christian 60-45 and Captain Shreve topped Huntington 64-46.

In consolation games, Airline downed Loyola 46-41, Parkway defeated Northwood 69-42, Benton fell to Mansfield 64-43 and West Monroe defeated Booker T. Washington 86-63. 

Kerel Dean stepped up with 24 points in Bossier’s victory. David Thomas scored 11 and Tonio Ambler-Barr 10.

The game was tight throughout. 

Neville led 13-12 after the first quarter, 23-22 at the half and 38-36 after three quarters.

Dean scored 10 in the fourth. Ambler-Barr scored three. Thomas made two free throws and Kam Davenport one.

Jayson Parker led Neville (12-5) with 16 points. Allen Fisher had 12 and Foster Phillips 10.

The Tigers had a six-game winning streak snapped.
