The Bossier Bearkats opened District 1-4A play with a 64-52 victory over the Booker T. Washington Lions Friday night at BTW.
In District 1-5A, the Haughton Bucs defeated Byrd 51-36 at Byrd, Airline fell to Captain Shreve 58-48 at Airline and Parkway lost to Natchitoches Central 69-56 in Natchitoches.
In the other 1-5A game, Evangel Christian defeated Huntington 70-54 at Evangel.
In a non-district game, Benton edged Quitman 59-56 at Benton.
At BTW, Kerel Dean poured in 29 points to lead the Bearkats.
Jatravion Bunnery added 14 and David Thomas chipped in 10.
Dean scored 10 and Bunnery eight in the first half to help Bossier grab a 28-25 lead.
The Bearkats pulled away in the third, outscoring the Lions 21-10.
Dean had 10 points. Thomas hit two 3-pointers and scored nine. Dean added nine more points in the fourth.
Rodrieon Dillard and Jackson Bates led BTW (13-7) with 17 and 15 points, respectively.
Bossier (9-11) continues district play at home Tuesday against Southwood.
In the other 1-4A openers, Minden routed Woodlawn 75-45 at Minden, Northwood defeated North DeSoto 54-33 in Stonewall and Southwood defeated Loyola 50-38 at Loyola.
At Byrd, Haughton improved to 14-9 and 1-1. Byrd dropped to 5-14 and 0-2.
At Airline, Eli Washington led the Vikings with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Jaydan Gladney scored 17.
Airline trailed 35-20 at the half. The Vikings outscored the Gators 10-2 in the third to get within seven. But they couldn’t complete the comeback.
The Vikings dropped to 9-14 overall and 1-2 in district. Captain Shreve improved to 17-7 and 3-0.
At Natchitoches Central, Parkway fell to 12-10 and 1-1. Natchitoches Central improved to 16-5 and 3-0.
