High school boys basketball: Haughton looking for new head coach

Haughton High is looking for a new head boys basketball coach.

Terry Josting has decided to step down after three seasons.

Josting underwent surgery for prostate cancer during the season but returned to the bench. He said health considerations were one reason for his decision.

A graduate of Parkway, Josting is in his 30th year as an educator in Louisiana, spending most of that time in Bossier Parish.

He served as the head boys coach at Parkway for 10 years. He was also the head girls coach at Southwood for four years, winning three District 1-5A championships.

Josting coached for six years at Bossier early in his career. He was a boys assistant coach before becoming girls head coach.

Josting’s record at Haughton was 25-47. His best season was this past one. The Bucs went 15-15 and had a 10-game winning streak early in the season.

One of the victories was over playoff team Southwood on the road.

Per Haughton head football coach and athletic director Jason Brotherton, applications for the position will be accepted through March 31.

Applicants must hold a teaching certification and have basketball coaching experience, preferably head coaching experience.

Applicants should send resumes to Principal David Haynie at david.haynie@bossierschools.org.
