High school boys soccer: Bossier’s outstanding season ends with loss to top-seed Vandebilt Catholic


The Bossier Bearkats’ outstanding season came to an end Tuesday with an 8-0 loss to No. 1 seed Vandebilt Catholic in the quarterfinals of the Division III boys playoffs in Houma.

Bossier, the No. 8 seed, closed its season 21-3-1. The Bearkats reached the quarterfinals for the first time since 2009.

Bossier’s other two losses were to District 1 foe Loyola College Prep. The No. 5 seed Flyers defeated No. 4 E.D. White in the quarterfinals and will host Vandebilt Catholic (21-3-8) in the semifinals.

The Terriers scored their first goal at the 24-minute mark of the first half and then added two more in the next 13 minutes for a 3-0 halftime lead. Vandebilt Catholic added five more in the second half.

The Terriers are a traditional state power. The reached the semifinals last year after winning the state title in 2018.
