The Benton Tigers won the Bossier Parish Championships meet Thursday, edging the Parkway Panthers by seven points at Benton’s Tiger Stadium.
Benton scored 166 points to 159 for Parkway. Haughton was third with 126 and Airline fourth with 113.
Benton’s Mason Haley and and Airline’s Kye Lehr were double winners on the track. Benton’s Mark Perry and Parkway’s Devon Oliver were double winners in the field.
Haley took the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 34.9 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:14.29.
Parkway’s Gabriel Falting was second in the 1,600 in 4:39.84. Parkway’s Gary Smith finished second in the 3,200 in 10:49.66.
Lehr swept the hurdles, taking the 110 in 15.54 and the 300 in 42.62. Lehr’s teammate Jeremiah Boudreaux was second in the 110 in 16.26. Benton’s Parker Coleman took second in the 300 in 44.68.
Perry won the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 5 1/4 inch and the high jump with a 6-4. Parkway’s Camaro Mayo was second in the triple jump with a 38-9 1/2. Airline’s Boudreaux captured second in the high jump with a 5-8.
Oliver won the shot put with a toss of 45-1 and the discus with a 134-10 1/2. His teammate Jake Morton was a close second in the shot put with a 44-8. Benton’s Davis Sellers was runner-up in the discus with a 130-6 1/2.
Parkway junior Jaylan White and Haughton junior John Ecot went head-to-head in the 100 for the second week in a row. White won again with a time of 11.01, .12 ahead of Ecot.
Ecot came back to win the 200 in 22.86. Parkway’s Greg Chitman was second in 23.54.
Parkway’s Will Achee took the 400 in 52.55, .13 faster than Benton’s Ashton Jordan.
Haughton’s Kenneth Smith continued his success in the 800, winning in 2:01.83. Airline’s Gabe Laval finished runner-up in 2:06.36.
Benton’s Clifford Joyce captured the long jump with a leap of 21-3, edging Bossier’s Waunkeyus Manning by 3.5 inches.
Haughton’s Chase Tolbert took the javelin with a throw of 140-4. Benton’s Jeffrey King was second with a 138-9.
Benton’s Mason Neill won the pole vault, clearing 11-6. Haughton’s Laiden Broadway was second with a vault of 11-0.
Parkway won the 4X100 and 4X400 relays.
The foursome of Demontray Blackwell, White, Jayson Williams and Ron Richmond ran a 43.36. Haughton was second in 43.97. (Team members’ names not available.)
Will Achee, Falting, Williams and Edward Moses ran a 3:37.07 in the 4X400. Benton’s Jordan, Austin Richard, Salvador Mancilla and Perry finished second in 3:39.81.
The Airline foursome of Boudreaux, Justin Washington, Daxton Chavez and Cameron Jefferson captured the 4X200 in 1:31.45. Parkway’s Achee, Williams, Mayo and Chitman finished a close second in 1:31.92.
The Benton foursome of Parker, Anthony Ardoin, Bernebe Mancilla and Haley won the 4X800 in 8:35.90. Parkway’s Gary Smith, Noah Fox, Adrian Orellana and Jesus Cordova finished second in 8:43.70.
Third-place finishers in individual events were Airline’s Washington (100), Haughton’s DJ Gladney (200), Parkway’s Edward Moses (400), Parkway’s Falting (800), Haughton’s Kenneth Smith (1,600), Parkway’s Fox (3,200), Haughton’s Tyler Stewart (110 hurdles), Haughton’s John Brown (300 hurdles), Airline’s Jefferson (long jump), Airline’s Malik Word (shot put, discus), Haughton’s Dexter Smith (triple jump), Haughton’s Lawson Mook (javelin), Parkway’s Trey Fisher (high jump) and Benton’s Miller Malley (pole vault).
