High school cross country: Airline boys, Parkway girls win Region I-5A titles

The Airline boys and Parkway girls won titles in the Region I-5A cross country meet Thursday at the Ward 9 Sportsplex in Pineville.

Airline scored 30 points, defeating runner-up Ruston by 26 points. Parkway finished third.

All five Airline runners in the scoring finished in the top 10. Taejon Morris was runner-up, covering the 3-mile course in 15:52.15. Byrd’s Austin Mikovich won in 15:45.47.

Airline’s Joshua Burns and Goffery Cole finished third and fourth, respectively, in 16:01.92 and 16:05.47. Gabriel Cole and Collin Morgan were ninth and 10th, respectively, in 16:33.86 and 16:39.85.

Parkway’s Clayton Wood finished eighth in 16:24.17.

In the girls division, Parkway scored 65 points to 86 for runner-up Lafayette. West Monroe finished third with 101.

Joslyn Crosby led the Lady Panthers with a third-place finish in 19:05.19. Lafayette’s Rosalie Michot won in 18:26.62 and Ruston’s Marina Givens was second in 18:36.97.

Parkway’s Jazz Rasouliyan finished seventh in 19:57.35. Other Lady Panthers in the scoring were Victoria Morris (15th, 21:18.09), Lauren Sepeda (19th, 21:35.86) and Katie Roman (26th, 22:21.71).

Airline’s Kaylen Harris qualified for the state meet with an 11th-place finish in 21:07.55.

The Class 5A state meet is Nov. 13 at Northwestern State.
