The Airline Vikings finished runner-up in the Class 5A cross country state meet Tuesday at Northwestern State University.
The Vikings scored 105 points. Catholic Baton Rouge won with 77, and Brother Martin of New Orleans was third with 125. Parkway finished seventh with 163.
Airline placed three runners in the top eight. Will Dart and Taejon Morris finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in 16 minutes, 00.5 seconds and 16:04.0. Joshua Burns was eighth in 16:06.5.
Other Vikings in the scoring were Xavier Wilson (36th) and Collin Morgan (55th).
Tyler Kruithof led Parkway with a 15th-place finish in 16:22.6. Austin Jacobson was 20th in 16:27.3. Other Panthers in the scoring were Clayton Wood (33rd), Andrew Robinson (47th) and Cole Billiot (51st).
Haughton’s Clyde English finished 39th.
Benton finished fifth in Class 4A boys.
Chandler Burns led the Tigers with a 19th-place finish in 17:18.2. Other Tigers in the scoring were Dylan Scott (27th), Logan Harris (51st), John David Carrier (58th) and Matthew Gore (66th).
Airline’s Bethanie Dunn led parish runners in the Class 5A girls race with a 22nd-place finish in 20:25.4.
Parkway finished 11th led by Victoria Morris’ 46th-place finish. Malia Morton finished 54th.
Haughton’s Madison Reichard was 48th.
Benton’s Baileigh Parker was 56th in the Class 4A girls division and Sairielys Hernandez-Cruz 60th. The Lady Tigers finished 14th.
