High school cross country: Airline, Parkway boys finish 1-2 in Region I-5A meet; Airline’s Dart takes individual title

Airline and Parkway finished 1-2 in the boys division in the Region I-5A cross country meet on Saturday at the Ward 9 Recreation Park in Pineville.

The Vikings scored 38 points to the Panthers’ 40.

Airline sophomore Will Dart edged Parkway’s Cole Billiot for the individual title.

Dart covered the 3-mile course in 15 minutes, 36.58 seconds. Billiot ran a 15:37.89.

Airline’s Taejon Morris finished third in 15:43.79 and Joshua Burns fifth in 15:55.95.

Other Vikings in the scoring were Xavier Wilson (13th) and Collin Morgan (16th).

Parkway’s Tyler Kruithof and Austin Jacobson finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in 16:00.56 and 16:02.56.

Other Panthers in the scoring were Andrew Robinson (10th) and Clayton Wood (15th).

Haughton’s Clyde English was 11th.

Parkway’s Jazz Rasouliyan and Haughton’s Madison Reichard finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the girls division in 20:15.71 and 21:17.45.

West Monroe’s Kirsten Elrod won in 19:09.74.

Airline’s Bethanie Dunn was 11th in 21:39.03. Parkway’s Victoria Morris finished 15th in 22:23.15,

Lafayette High won the team title with 39 points. Barbe was second with 86, Parkway third with 113 and Airline fourth with 114.

The Class 5A state meet is Nov. 14 at Northwestern State University.
