High school cross country: Benton boys finish runner-up in Cedar Creek meet

Benton finished runner-up in the boys division in the Cedar Creek Wallace Martin Invitational on Saturday at Lincoln Parish Park.

The Tigers scored 114 points. Ruston won with 50. Holy Savior Menard was third with 118.

Twenty-seven teams and 235 individuals completed in the boys division.

Chandler Burns led Benton with an 11th-place finish, covering the 5K course in 17 minutes, 40.57 seconds. Other Tigers in the scoring were Jacob Marcinkus (15th, 18:00.3), Hagos Easte (24th, 18:29.38), Mason Hartley (28th, 18:35.11) and Collier Smith (39th, 18:50.16).

Kenlee Perkins was Benton’s top finisher in the girls division. She was 24th in 23:26.19.

The Lady Tigers finished eighth out of 16 teams.
