The Parkway Panthers continued their outstanding cross country season with a runner-up finish in the boys’ division in the MC Watson Ford Invitational on Saturday in Clinton, Miss.
Parkway, led by Cole Billiot’s fourth-place finish, scored 56 points. The Panthers finished just seven points behind winner Bartlett (Miss.).
Parkway’s Adrianna Wilder finished third in the girls’ division, leading the Lady Panthers to a fourth-place finish. Parkway scored 84 points. Ocean Springs (Miss.) won with 47.
There were three boys’ and girls’ divisions in the meet. Parkway competed in the Gold division, which was the highest.
Billiot, who has been impressive all season, covered the 5K Choctaw Trails course at Mississippi College in 16:09.94. St. Paul’s Eric Coston, last year’s Louisiana Class 5A runner-up, won in 15:03.88.
Other Panthers in the scoring were Andrew Robinson (16th, 16:33.38), Cameron Rogers (17th, 16:33.65), Tyler Kruithof (25th, 17:01.02) and David Morgan (28th, 17:07.33).
Wilder was the low scorer in the girls’ division as the top two finishers were competing indepedently. She ran a 19:52.05. Claire Morgan Rose of Kirk (Miss.) Academy won in 18:33.42. Alissa Lander of Lakeside was second in 18:49.62.
Parkway’s Lindsey Hutcheson finished ninth in 20:23.30. Other Lady Panthers in the scoring were Carly Hanson (20th, 21:18.08), Ariel McGaffey (33rd, 22:18.91) and Victoria Morris (36th, 22:33.23).
