High school cross country: Parkway girls, Airline boys fare well in out-of-state meets


The Parkway girls and Airline boys teams fared well in our-of-state cross country meets Saturday.

Parkway won the Lois Davis Invitational at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. Led by a 1-2 finish by Joslyn Crosby and Jazz Rasouliyan, the Lady Panthers scored 31 points. Lake Hamilton finished second with 52.

The Airline boys finished runner-up out of 29 teams in the MC Watson Ford Invitational in Clinton, Miss. Led by individual winner Goffrey Cole, the Vikings scored 69 points. Bartlett won with 55.

At Magnolia, Crosby covered the 5K SAU course in 20 minutes, 24.4 seconds. Rasouliyan ran a 20:50.6.

Other Lady Panthers in the scoring were Victoria Morris (12th, 23:31.2), Lauren Sepeda (17th, 23:59.2) and Alayna Mitchell (19th, 24:29.4).

Led by runner-up Clayton Wood, Parkway finished third in the boys division. Wood ran a 17:22.5. Ruston’s Octavio Tilley won in 17:15.5.

At Clinton, Cole’s winning time was 16:32.39. He finished about four seconds in front of Fontainebleau’s Marshall Buhler.
Airline’s Taejon Morris and Joshua Burns finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in 16:53.5 and 16:57.31. Other Vikings in the scoring were Collin Morgan (11th, 17:19.00) and Gabriel Cole (46th, 18:19.59).

The boys division featured 367 competitors.

Kaylen Harris led the Airline girls with a 37th-place finish out of 310 runners in 21:53.66. Hannah Evans was 130th.
