High school cross country: Parkway sweeps team, individual titles in Ark-La-Tex Border Dash


Parkway swept the team and individual titles in the Ark-La-Tex Border Dash Cross Country meet Saturday at South Bossier Park.

The event is the biggest regular season meet held in North Louisiana. There were 15 teams and 172 runners in the boys division and 10 teams and 132 runners in the girls.

Parkway scored 29 points in the boys division, easily outdistancing runner-up Austin (Texas) Anderson, which had 78. West Ouachita was third with 87 and Cedar Creek fourth with 130.

Four Panthers finished in the top seven and five in top 10.

Parkway scored 25 points in the girls division. Austin Anderson finished second with 46, Cedar Creek third with 98, Loyola College Prep fourth with 140 and Haughton fifth with 168.

Five Lady Panthers finished in the top nine.

Cole Billiot won the boys title, covering the 3-mile course in 15 minutes, 52 seconds. Tyler McVay of Ouachita Christian was second in 16:13 and Alan England of Byrd third in 16:18.

Parkway’s Cameron Rogers, Andrew Robinson and Tyler Kruithof finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Rogers ran a 16:23, Robinson 16:24 and Kruithof 16:28. David Morgan, the final Panther in the scoring, was 10th in 16:43. Teammates Brencen Delacruz and Christian Nevins finished right behind him in 11th and 12th, respectively.

Adrianna Wilder won the girls title. She ran the 3 miles in 19:43. Lanie Jordan of Austin Anderson was second in 20:05 and Lindsey Hutcheson of Parkway third in 20:16. Haughton’s Emily Sharp finished fourth in 20:44.

Carly Hanson (sixth, 21:27), Ariel McGaffey (eighth, 21:51.95) and Victoria Morris (ninth, 21:58) were also in the scoring for Parkway.

Parkway’s Keely Reed was 13th, Nicole Kellogg 24th and Claire Carlyle 26th.

Benton won the middle school girls division and finished second in the boys.
