Parkway senior Brennan Robin finished third in the boys “El Caliente” 5K race in the 38th annual Chile Pepper XC Festival meet Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.
Robin covered the University of Arkansas course at Agri Park in 14 minutes, 46.3 seconds. According to Louisiana MikeSplit.com, that’s the second-fastest time by a boys runner in Louisiana history. It was also a person-best by 22 seconds.
“I thought I got out and put myself in a good spot early on with the leader,” Robin told Louisiana MileSplit’s Jerry Byrd Jr. “I was pleased with the way I closed the race.”
Parkview Baptist’s Aiden Monistere holds the state record of 14:33, according to Louisiana MileSplit.
Dominic Matthias of Moore won in 14:22.0. Tyler Connelly of Aledo was second in 14:42.2.
The race was run in two heats. The top three runners ran in Heat 1 which featured 1,087 runners. Heat 2 featured 559 runners.
Parkway finished 37th out of 137 teams that posted scores.
Pierce Dees finished 244th in 16:34.2, Isaac Ruliffson 334th in 16:51.4, Braxton Thomas in 349th in 16:53.6, Auden O’Nishea 480th in 17:17.2, Landon Champagne 564th in 17:31.2 and Noah Stoute in 688th in 17:55.8.
Parkway’s Caylee Weaver finished 398th out of 869 runners in the girls race in 21:01.1. Chloe Wells was 464th in 21:23.0.
The two-day event featured thousands of high school, collegiate and community runners.
