The Airline Vikings came out and took care of business Friday night, defeating the Mansfield Wolverines 44-0 before a large homecoming crowd at Airline Stadium.

Airline improved to 5-1 overall. The Vikings return to District 1-5A play this Friday at home against Haughton (4-2), a 27-14 loser to Byrd. Mansfield dropped to 1-5.

“We came out and executed well in all three phases,” Airline coach Bo Meeks said. “I’m really proud of the way we focused and played. It was a good night.”

Airline posted its third straight shutout. The Vikings defense has allowed just three touchdowns in six games.

“Defensively, we played really well again,” Meeks said. “They weren’t able to run the ball at all. We did a good job of taking away the run. They had some really good skill players. They caught the ball pretty well. Coach (Mike) Green is doing a really good job down there. They played really hard.”

Airline scored four first-half touchdowns in building a 27-0 lead.

“We moved the ball really well,” Meeks said. “(Quarterback) Brad (Fream) played really well again, made some nice throws.”

The Vikings also benefited from the return of senior running back Brian Fielding, who had missed most of the previous three games with an injury.

“He ran the ball well,” Meeks said. “We got a couple of early scores in the second half to really put it away.”

According to The (Shreveport) Times, Fream completed nine of 15 passes for 149 yards and two TDs.

He touchdown passes went to Nate Fullilove (40 yards) and Malik Britt (22 yards).

Cameron Davis scored on a 6-yard run set up by a Fream pass to Britt. Brian Engelke and Michah Dunn also had some nice receptions.
