Airline rising senior quarterback Ben Taylor, the 2023 District 1-5A and All-Parish Offensive MVP, has verbally committed to Northwestern State.
Taylor made the announcement Wednesday on X (formerly Twitter).
Taylor enters his third year as a starter this fall. He also saw playing time as a freshman.
Last season, he completed 319-of-432 passes (73.8 percent) for 4,189 yards and 49 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He led the Vikings to a 10-2 record.
In addition to the 1-5A and All-Parish honors, he was named to the Louisiana Football Coaches Association All-State second team.
Last month, Taylor earned the Most Outstanding Offensive Player honor after leading Airline to the championship of the Northwest Louisiana 7 on 7 Charity Challenge tournament at Freedom Fields.
As a sophomore, Taylor completed 222-of-372 passes (59.7 percent) for 3,098 yards and 37 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
For his career, Taylor has completed 608-of-924 passes (65.8 percent) for 8,017 yards and 88 touchdowns.
Taylor received the offer from new Northwestern State Head Coach Blaine McCorkle on July 10. He has also received offers from from Centenary College, Louisiana Christian, Mississippi Valley State, Graceland University (Iowa) and Grambling State, according to his posts on X.
