High school football: Bossier, Plain Dealing fall to tough foes

The Bossier Bearkats and Plain Dealing Lions lost district games to tough teams Friday night.

Bossier fell to defending District 1-4A champion Woodlawn 62-7 at Memorial Stadium. Plain Dealing dropped a 34-14 decision to 2016 Class 1A runner-up Haynesville in a District 1-1A contest in Haynesville,

Bossier fell to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in district with its sixth straight loss. Plain Dealing dropped to 3-5 and 1-3 with its fourth straight defeat.

Woodlawn improved to 6-2 and 4-1. Haynesville (6-2, 4-0) won its fifth straight.

The Bearkats trailed the Knights just 8-7 after one quarter, but Woodlawn scored 32 in the second to put the game away.

After a fumble recovery by Reggie Burns, Bossier went 53 yards in 10 plays for its lone TD. Kalan Green scored from 4 yards out.

Green led the Bearkats with 55 yards on 14 carries.

Bossier visits Minden on Friday. The Crimson Tide (4-4, 2-3) lost to Northwood 38-0 Thursday night.

Plain Dealing fell behind Haynesville 13-0 after one quarter. The Tors led 20-0 at the half, limiting the Lions to 51 yards, per Haynesville stats.

Haynesville stretched the lead to 34-0 going into the fourth. Plain Dealing didn’t go down easy, though, scoring two late touchdowns.

The Lions host Lincoln Prep on Friday. Lincoln Prep (3-5, 2-2) defeated Ringgold 56-0 Thursday night.
