High school football: Five parish teams make playoffs; Benton, Airline at home in the first round

Five Bossier Parish high school football teams are headed to the state playoffs.

The Benton Tigers and Airline Vikings will be hosting first-round games Friday.

Benton (10-0), the District 1-4A champion and No. 3 seed in Class 4A, hosts No. 30 Breaux Bridge (5-5). Airline (7-3), the No. 12 seed, hosts No. 21 Chalmette (7-3) in Class 5A.

The Haughton Buccaneers, Parkway Panthers and Plain Dealing Lions will be on the road in the first round.

In Class 5A, No. 20 Haughton (7-3) travels to New Orleans to face No. 13 John Ehret (7-3). The game is a rematch of a first-round game last season won by the Patriots 48-27. Also in Class 5A, No. 24 Parkway (5-5) travels to Lake Charles to take on No. 9 Barbe (9-1).

In Class 1A, No. 25 Plain Dealing (3-7) visits District 1-1A foe and No. 8 Jonesboro-Hodge (7-3). The Tigers defeated the Lions 32-13 in Week 6.
