High school football: Parkway QB Rogers named 1-5A MVP; 14 parish players make first team

Parkway junior quarterback Justin Rogers has been named the Offensive MVP on the All-District 1-5A football team selected by the district’s coaches.
Rogers completed 182 of 288 passes for 3,022 yards and 30 touchdowns with eight interceptions in 13 games.
He also rushed for 848 yards on 139 carries and 11 TDs.
Parkway finished 11-2 after losing to eventual Class 5A state champion Landry-Walker in the quarterfinals.
The Panthers were second in District 1-5A behind Division I state champion Evangel Christian.
Six other Parkway players made the first team — junior running back Eric “EJ” Williams, junior wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr., senior offensive lineman Dalton Meshell, senior offensive lineman Hunter Nichols, senior running back/receiver Robert McKnight and senior defensive back Johnathan Jones.
Williams rushed for 769 yards on 100 carries and scored 13 TDs.

Marshall caught 55 passes for 1,250 yards and 15 TDs.
McKnight, who was named as an “Athlete,” rushed for 951 yards on 94 carries and caught 33 passes for 566 yards. He scored 22 touchdowns (15 rushing, seven receiving).
Five Airline players made the first team — senior receiver Malik Britt, junior flex Zylon Newson, senior defensive lineman Drew Brewster, senior linebacker Josh James and senior defensive back Jaylyn Thomas.
Haughton senior offensive lineman and senior kicker Nico Broadway also made the first team.
Evangel junior linebacker Davin Cotton was the defensive MVP.
The Eagles led the first team with 17 selections — senior quarterback Connor Curry, sophomore running back Tamauge Sloan, senior running back Alex Elam, senior receiver Caleb Laboy, senior tight end Tanner Ash, senior offensive lineman Ethan Harvey, sophomore offensive lineman Alvin Ford, senior defensive lineman Aaron Calcote, junior defensive lineman Myles Cole, sophomore defensive lineman Elijah Chatmon, junior linebacker Micah Baskerville, junior linebacker Bobby Bell, junior defensive back Ardarrius Washington, senior defensive back Orlando Puryear, senior defensive back Jarrick Bernard, senior defensive back Patrick Jones and senior kicker Seth Green. Puryear was also named first-team return specialist.
Parkway’s second-team selections were senior wide receiver Chase Hill, sophomore wide receiver Amani Larry, senior defensive lineman Cordarious Moore, senior defensive lineman Tony Beckwith, junior linebacker David Morales and senior defensive back Malcolm Banks.
Airline’s second-team selections were sophomore quarterback Brad Fream, junior running back Cameron Davis, junior offensive lineman Jacob Torbeville, senior defensive lineman Courtney Turner, junior linebacker Darrell Evans, senior defensive back D’Kameron White and junior return specialist Coby McGee.
Haughton’s second-team selections were senior running back Josh Lister, junior wide receiver Emile Cola, senior linebacker T’Marquiese Winfield and junior linebacker Harrison Voigt.
